How players join and score (QR codes and claiming names)

There's nothing to install and no player accounts. A player points their camera at the QR poster, taps the link, claims their name from the roster, and is scoring within thirty seconds.

The join flow

Print the QR poster from the share page and put it on carts, the first tee, and the pro-shop counter. Scanning opens the event in the browser; the player picks their name and starts scoring. No camera? The short join code typed at the site does the same job.

Anyone with the link can watch the live leaderboard without claiming a name — spouses, sponsors, and the beer cart included.

Per-player QR cards

From the roster admin you can print a personal QR card per player. First scan claims that exact roster slot — no picking from a list, no claiming the wrong Dave. If someone grabs a teammate's card by mistake, the take-over page sorts it out; scores always belong to the team, not the phone.

Event PINs

If your join QR is on every clubhouse screen, set an event PIN in setup. Players then need the PIN to claim a name or add themselves. It prints on the per-player cards but never on the public poster or the TV.

Dead zones don't stop scoring

Scoring is offline-first: every score saves to the phone instantly and syncs when signal returns, and the scoring page keeps working through a rural back nine — even after a page refresh. A status chip shows saved-on-phone vs. synced, so nobody wonders whether the 4 counted.

Frequently asked questions

Does every player need their own phone?

No — one phone per group is plenty. Most scrambles have one designated scorer per team; anyone else who joins just sees the live board.

What if someone claims the wrong name?

They can release the name and claim the right one, or the organizer can substitute or free the slot from the roster admin. Scores stay with the team either way.
